back from houston.

All in all a good trip. here are some things that i did/saw/discovered.

- i like flying but i dont like airports. lines, security, 14 dollar tuna sandwiches (a bit of an exaggeration but not much)
- airplane food really isnt that good.
- having an expense account is really nice, especially when your boss tells you to eat well and just charge the company.
- texas beef cant touch alberta beef.
- what does it say when your hotel room is larger than your actual home?
- everything in texas IS bigger. i went running in a neighbourhood by my hotel and every single house was decorated... and not just a string of lights im talking 12 foot nutcrackers, herds of reindeer, and lots of those inflatable snow globes.
-the metric system is officially my best friend. do you know how big a "sack" is? how about how much one gallon of water weighs? or how many gallons are in a barrel. well i do now.
-if your going to go out for a drink, i much prefer paying 75 cents (american) to 5-6 dollars (canadian).
- many americans dont eat vegetables... every day we had a catered lunch and none of the american guys in my course had any vegetables...ever.
- when surrounded by texans for a week you will slowly but surely start talking like them.

Home Theater Regulations.

Check out this article.. apparently some lobby group wants to sanction all theaters, including the one you have at home. If you have a television larger than 29" and stereo sound with at least two comfortable chairs (movie theater chairs arent all that comfy though) these guys think you should pay a fee in order to allow friends to come over and watch.

"Just because you buy a DVD to watch at home doesn't give you the right to invite friends over to watch it too. That's a violation of copyright and denies us the revenue that would be generated from DVD sales to your friends"

Brrrr, its a little cold

Todays walk into work was a bit chilly. and by a bit i mean a lot. actually it wasnt that bad, but i need a scarf. Does anyone know of a cool place to buy scarves? Other than it being pretty darn cold in the city not a whole lot going on over here. oh, but i have a funny/somewhat gross story.

On the weekend i went to get a haircut. it turned out alright (i dont know if you could screw my hair up, i keep it pretty messy anyways) but afterwards i felt like having a coffee. Starbucks is right next door to my hair cutting place so i figured i'd just go there. I had my first Christmas coffee of the year (Eggnog Tazo Chai... delicious) anyways there was a bit of a line up to pay for drinks but the girls working were making the drinks as the people walked in. As i was waiting to pay, i noticed the guy at the register wasnt sounding too good, and obviously had some sort of head cold. as the guy in front of me was paying the cashier guy had to sneeze, and did the appropriate thing of sneezing into his elbow... however when he removed his face from his elbow he had an enormous amount of snot hanging from his cheek. the cashier guy was then like "i think im going to wash my hands" the guy in front of me replied totally seriously "please... might want to check your face too"
